NORM Survey of Property:

Gamma Seek performs NORM surveys of entire properties to include all operational areas (indoor and outdoor) and most equipment. Our survey strategy has been carefully developed through experience to provide a dense survey coverage, typically with data point spacing at one meter and sub-meter for areas of heightened interest. Our survey strategy includes ascertaining site-specific radiation background exposure levels, collecting geo-referenced exposure readings each second over the area of the property, individual delineation surveys of all identified areas of concern and sample collection for contingent laboratory analysis if needed. With a focus on survey accuracy, our state-of-the-art radiation detection equipment is carefully maintained and professionally calibrated frequently in lab and in the field. GPS data tied to each detector reading is obtained with highly precise satellite geometry, which is further enhanced by either automatic correction signal or manual correction against worldwide GPS base stations to allow accuracy at a fraction of a meter. The project deliverable for a property NORM survey includes at minimum a report detailing all (if any) areas of heightened NORM exposure values, colored-dot survey figures of the entire property and each delineation survey, laboratory results (if any), supporting documents and raw survey data. Gamma Seek’s NORM survey reports and figures are clear, concise and reliable.

NORM Survey of Equipment:

Various pieces of equipment routinely used in connection with oil & gas production operations and servicing/conditioning/transporting of such equipment is often NORM-impacted. Gamma Seek conducts highly detailed NORM surveys with a focus on isolated, specific pieces of equipment and immediately surrounding areas (where surface soil impact may have occurred) when the remaining property is of no apparent concern. Here is a list of several types of commonly NORM-impacted equipment which can exhibit NORM exposure values above concerning levels.

NORM Remediation Oversight:

We are equipped to arrange, coordinate and confirm completion of NORM remediation activities by an independent party. Gamma Seek will direct remediation contractors to areas of elevated NORM exposure, whether property (soil), waste or equipment. NORM will be properly managed, removed from the site and we will confirm completion of remediation activities through a follow-up NORM survey with confirmation sampling (where applicable) at each area of concern to demonstrate and ensure effectiveness of remediation.
